In modern personal computer, almost every peripheral device uses an adapter to communicate with system bus, for example:
Display adapter, used to transmit signal to monitor.
Universal Serial Bus (USB) adapters for printers, keyboards and mice, among others.
Network adapter required to attach to any network.
Host bus adapter, to connect hard disks or other storage.
Connectors are used for joining electrical circuits together:
Audio and video connector are electrical connectors designed and used for audio frequencies
Gender of connectors and fasteners are each of a pair of mating connectors or fasteners and is conventionally assigned the designation male or female
Power connector is an electrical connector designed to carry a significant amount of electrical power, usually as DC or low-frequency AC
RF connector is an electrical connector designed to work at radio frequencies in the multi-megahertz range.
SCSI (pronounced sk-uh-zhee), is a set of standards for physically connecting and transferring data between computers and peripheral devices. SCSI is most commonly used for hard disks and tape drives, but it can connect a wide range of other devices, including scanners and CD drives.
