If you are looking to connect a source with a digital DVI output to a display with a digital DVI input, such as an HDTV, then you will want to purchase either a single link or a dual link DVI-D cable. Whether you buy single or dual link DVI-D depends primarily on the amount of bandwidth needed for your particular application. Single TMDS link DVI cable can support resolutions and timings that use a video clock rate of about 25-165 MHz. If you are unsure which type you need, the dual link will work where the single link may not. In order to determine your required bandwidth just multiply your desired resolution by your desired refresh rate (ie. 1600x1200 x 70 = 134 MHz).
